Welcome To FearTales!
I'd first like to welcome you to the forum! Welcome, welcome! Oh, please! Have a seat! Yes, right there will be fine. I just want to go over a few things with you, to help you get started here. This is FearTales, a site for writers and readers to come together to, well.. read and write! Our focus is mainly on Horror and Science Fiction but we have a section dedicated to other genres! So no worries! We have a little bit of everything!
Before you get up! Wait a minute there, no need to rush, let us get to know you a little better! Your first post should be an introduction. Let us know who you are! You can introduce yourself by clicking here! Click me! Introduce yourself here!!
You should also familiarize yourself with our Code of Conduct and also check out this thread for a brief summary about what FearTales is all about! The code of conduct is pretty simple and straightforward, but you should still be familiar with what will and won't fly around here. So please do go check that out!
Now, you want to start posting right? Well, there are a few extra rules outside of the normal Code of Conduct, and we just want to make sure you are good to go. While the Code of Conduct is the basis of our rules, we have some other things to talk about.
Writing. Now, anyone can come in here, make an account, and start writing stories, however, you can't just write about extremely inappropriate things. Such as vivid erotic/sexual scenes. While it is allowed to write erotic scenes, it has to be moderated. Otherwise, this site could turn into pornographic literature, and that isn't the vision we have here. So your options are to tone it down, or do "fade to black" scenes.
It's also much, much, appreciated, if you use proper spelling and grammar. If your story is unreadable, it may get flagged and taken down, for the simple fact that it's, well, not readable. It becomes a low value post. So please, for the love of all things, use proper grammar. If you are unsure of something, ask someone in the Shoutbox, or in the Writing Discussion Board. There will surely be someone who can help you out.
Speaking of the Shoutbox, there are some rules to go along with the Shoutbox as well, which can be found here on this thread, or on the right side of the page. The Shoutbox is essentially a chat for the members of the forum to communicate outside of posting.
Shoutbox Rules
Don't spam. Unlike what the Code of Conduct states, you may double post in the chat, though, please try not to overload the chat with a bunch of messages simultaneously. Not everyone here will have a good computer, or good internet connection to handle your spamming giving them a denial of service. Plus, it's annoying. So just don't do it.
Do Not Post Links. You may post links to a thread on the forum, like say, a story you just finished and posted. Feel free to share it. However, please don't post links to your Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Website, YouTube Channel, whatever. That's not what the Shoutbox is for.
Be Nice. Don't bully, or harass. It won't be tolerated. More in depth about this in the Code of Conduct, but it is strongly frowned upon to bully and harass here at FearTales.
There really isn't much more rules aside from the general Code of Conduct. Follow both sets of rules and you should be fine.
Well! Looks like you're ready to go! What are you waiting for! Enter the world of FearTales!
